Privacy Policy
Effective: July 5, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information FINE ("FINE," "we," "us," or "our") collects when you use the FINE app and website (together, the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have. FINE is a personal financial-tracking tool operated by NoSlo Solutions, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company ("NoSlo Solutions").
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide directly
When you create a FINE account and use the app, we collect:
- Your name and email address, used to create and secure your account
- Your password (stored only as a salted hash — we never store or can view your plaintext password)
- Your member profile: your FI (financial independence) number, target FI date, monthly expense baseline, current age, retirement age, preferred FI approach ("FIRE variant"), and currency
- Financial information you manually enter: income streams (salary, dividends, rental income, interest, business income, other passive income), rental properties and their associated income and expenses, investment portfolios and holdings, debts, budgets, and categories
- Any goals, notes, or settings you configure within the app
1.2 Information from linked financial accounts (Plaid)
If you choose to link a bank or investment account, FINE uses Plaid Inc. ("Plaid") to connect securely to your financial institution. When you link an account:
- You enter your bank/institution credentials directly into Plaid's interface, not into FINE. FINE never sees, receives, or stores your bank username or password.
- Plaid shares certain data back to FINE about the accounts you choose to link, including account balances, transactions, and (for investment accounts) holdings.
- Plaid's own collection and use of your information when you link an account is governed by Plaid's End User Privacy Policy, available at https://plaid.com/legal/#end-user-privacy-policy. We encourage you to read it.
- You can unlink an account at any time from within the app; see Section 5 below.
1.3 Push notification tokens
If you enable notifications, we collect a device push token (issued by Apple/Google/Expo, not by us) so we can deliver alerts you've opted into — for example, budget-overspend warnings, portfolio-drift alerts, and goal-milestone notifications. The token identifies your device for delivery purposes only; it is not used for tracking or advertising.
1.4 Operational and diagnostic telemetry
FINE's backend uses Laravel Nightwatch, an application performance monitoring tool, to help us keep the Service reliable. Nightwatch collects operational telemetry such as request timings, error diagnostics, and background job/command activity. By default it does not capture request payload contents (e.g., the body of a request you submit), and we run an additional redaction layer that scrubs currency-formatted amounts and long numeric sequences (which could otherwise be account numbers or raw balances) out of any exception or command records before they are stored. In normal operation, this telemetry is tied to internal record IDs, not your account balances, transaction details, or property addresses.
1.5 Property value estimates (RentCast)
If you add a rental property and turn on value/rent estimates for it, FINE shares that property's street address with RentCast, a property-data provider, to fetch an automated value and rent estimate. This only happens for properties where you've explicitly enabled estimates — if you leave estimates off, or enter a property's value manually, we never send that property's address anywhere. You can turn estimates on or off per property at any time from the property's screen in the app. We do not send any other information about you or your finances to RentCast — only the address of the specific property you've opted in.
1.6 First-party usage analytics
FINE collects basic usage analytics — for example, which features you open and how often — to help us understand what's working and prioritize what to build next. This is a first-party system: events are sent from the app to FINE's own backend and stored in FINE's own database. We do not use a third-party analytics provider, and no usage data is sent to any outside analytics company. The events we collect are limited by design to feature-usage signals (event names, counts, on/off flags, and categories) — our backend rejects any event that doesn't match this shape, so dollar amounts, account balances, property addresses, and other free-text or financial values cannot be captured as usage-analytics data. Raw usage events are kept for 12 months; aggregated daily summaries (counts only, not tied to the original event detail) are kept longer so we can see trends over time.
1.7 Address suggestions (U.S. Census Geocoder)
When you enter or edit a property's address, FINE sends the address text you've typed to the U.S. Census Bureau's Geocoder, a free public government service, to suggest and normalize the address. This is a government service, not a commercial vendor — it does not require an account, and we only send it the address text while you are actively entering or editing a property address. We do not send any other information about you or your finances to the Census Bureau.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information above to:
- Provide the Service — calculate your net worth, savings rate, FI projections, and related figures based on the data you provide or link
- Authenticate you and secure your account
- Send you notifications you've opted into
- Diagnose bugs, monitor performance, and keep the Service reliable
- Understand which features are used and how often, so we can prioritize what to build next
- Respond to support requests
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your financial data to serve you ads, and FINE does not currently run any advertising.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal or financial information to third parties. We do not use any third-party advertising networks, and we do not run ads. We share information only with the following categories of service providers, each of whom processes data on our behalf solely to operate the Service:
- Plaid, to establish and maintain your linked account connections (see Section 1.2)
- RentCast, only a property's street address, and only for properties where you've turned on value/rent estimates (see Section 1.5)
- The U.S. Census Bureau's Geocoder, a free public government service, to suggest and normalize a property's address as you type it (see Section 1.7)
- Resend, our transactional email provider, to deliver account-related emails (e.g., household invites) — Resend processes the recipient email address and email content, not your financial data
- Expo's push notification service and Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), to deliver push notifications to your device (see Section 1.3) — these services see your device push token and notification text, not your underlying financial data
- Other infrastructure and service providers who process data on our behalf under contract (e.g., hosting, database, and monitoring providers), solely to operate the Service
- Law enforcement or regulators, only if required by law or valid legal process
Our first-party usage analytics (Section 1.6) are not shared with any third party — they are collected and stored entirely on FINE's own backend.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account and financial data for as long as your account is active, so the Service can provide historical trends (like net-worth-over-time charts) and accurate projections. FI Snapshots are immutable, point-in-time historical records and are retained as part of your account history until your account is deleted. If you unlink a Plaid connection, we stop syncing new data from that institution, but historical balances and transactions already recorded remain in your account unless you delete them or delete your account entirely.
5. Your Rights & Choices (Access, Export, Deletion)
- Access & export: You can view your data at any time in the app, and export your transactions and accounts to CSV from within the app.
- Unlink a financial connection: You can remove a linked bank/investment account or delete an individual manually-tracked account at any time from the Accounts screen in the app.
- Push notifications: You can turn notifications off at any time, either from your device's system settings or from the in-app Settings → Notifications toggle.
- Account & data deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Delete Account in the app. After you confirm with your password, we immediately and permanently erase your account and all data we hold about you (profile, accounts, balances, transactions, goals, income streams, properties, portfolios, snapshots, and notification tokens) and instruct Plaid to sever any linked bank connections. If you can't access the app, email support@noslo-solutions.com from the email address associated with your account and we will process the deletion for you.
6. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, salted/hashed password storage, and access controls that scope every request to your own account. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children's Privacy
FINE is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@noslo-solutions.com and we will delete it.
8. International Users
FINE is currently operated and tested with users in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be processed in the United States. We do not currently offer region-specific data rights mechanisms (such as GDPR data export/erasure tooling or a CCPA "Do Not Sell" workflow) beyond what is described in this policy; if you are located in the EU, UK, or California and have questions about your rights, please contact us and we'll do our best to help on a manual basis.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Effective" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
